The young man's eyes shifted slightly. "You're some of the new arrivals, aren't you? The people from the old spaceship."

Cortes nodded. "Yes. Your people took us in. Now maybe we can return the favor by helping you out somehow."

The man glanced at his companions, then stepped aside. "All right, old-timer, but don't stay up here too long. We don't want people trying to get from the outer parts of the city into the central areas, and they may try to if they get frightened enough. They'd come flooding back into the plaza then, and up to the terrace, thinking they might be safer here."
